As the holidays approach the sugar content rises above the overload line. Since I can only function on a lower glycemic diet, dealing with the abundant extras can be a challenge. I usually focus on how much I want to have healthy teeth. As eyes are the windows to our soul, our teeth are the gateway to our bodies well being.
Now more than ever is time to focus on keeping our pearlies as germ free as possible and that includes creating an inhospitable environment for the microbeasties. I have found that the toothpaste, mouthwash and anything I put in my mouth matters. The stronger my mouth the less likely chances for disease. Eating a slightly ph neutral or alkaline can help as well as reducing grains, especially wheat, and other sweet foods. Balance is worth contemplating. I know its hard with all you have to do in your life but well worth the effort to plan meals and snacks. Almond butter and coconut oil add natural sweetness without the sugar to baked goods, meals, and snacks.
